The Green Farm Festival 2008 should be rernamed " The Golden Festival of Nirvanic Celtic Delights Encompassing Irish and Scotttish Cultural and Musical Highlights of Highest Quality on a Farm that Thanks be to God had a Lake on It " It's a bit much for a sign but it conveys more of what to expect to all those poor pitiful souls that decided to stay home to avoid the heat.
This festival was hot ,and not just weather wise. The music was hot- and what a wide spectrum of styles to suit every taste.
The sessions were hot- great players from all over were there knockin' out the tunes in grand style.
The dancing was hot- the Irish as well as the Scottish Dancers were an absolute pleasure to watch!
The Ceili dancers were hot- I can testify from first hand experience that the Munich Ceili Band provided the music that inspired the people to dance with delight no matter how warm it was. It was a "moving experience" and there wasn't a dry eye in the house, as a matter of fact, there wasn't a dry anything in the house.
The food was hot- I can't believe I was at a festival ing Germany all weekend and didn't eat even one bratwurst. What a great choice of different foods!
My Artwork was hot- I finally got to field test my artwork for extreme climatic changes. Last year it survived the thunderstorm test, this year the heat was turned up and it passed with flying colors. Thanks to everyone for the postive feedback!
The drinks were cool- My first time drinking Bulmers on the rocks, yuuuum, and there were plenty beaming on Beamish! Beam me up Scotty.
The Lake was hot- I mean cool! One of my best experieces this weekend was floating on my back , cool as a cucumber, in this wonderful lake listening to the great music from the nearby stage. It was fantastic!
My thanks and compliments to all of the organizers, helpers, musicians, dancers, vendors, and visitors that made this an absolutely wonderful event. What a great place to come back to, to meet up again with old and new found friends year after year!
I hope I have the oppurtunity to come back and contribute to the Craic!
Standing Ovations,
José

Green Farm Festival has to be the newest hit on the scene for sure! Thanks Frank, Allison, Paul (that's plural Pauls), and all the rest of the team for putting on a fantastic weekend. To have spent the whole weekend listening to some great music, meeting up with many many old friends, getting steadily wobbly through two all night sessions means it'll take me a full year to recover, roll on 2009 (please post dates Frank)!!!
Special personal thanks to Greensleeves, Burning Biscuit Band, Paul Daly Band and of course Colm (my stomach is still aching from the craic), for providing some great sets. Hope to see you all again next year.
Again, thanks to you all.

Liebe Leute vom Green Farm Festival!
Weiter so!

Loads of thanks to Paul, Frank, Magic Traudi, Siobhan, Maureen and Conor, Helen, Monika + Daniel, Robert, Pat, Maria and Dara, everyone who did the unglamorous but essential stuff of setting up and taking down (Paul again, Paul M, Alan etc.), the Stuttgart gang - Brixi, Robin, Max, Benni and Miriam ... and the lots of others who put it all together and kept it all going. Yez are all stars, every one of you! As Barry from The Rye said, it was savage !

A big thank you to the organisers of the Green Farm Festival 2008 for putting on a great weekend for musicians and audience alike. We from the band Celtic Chakra enjoyed performing but we also enjoyed meeting up with some of the other Trad musicians from all over Germany and play spontaneous sessions late in the night. It was great to hear bands of the calibre of Cara and Iontach. The standard of musicianship at the festival was very high. It is Germany's first proper out doorTrad fest. It is great to bring all these bands from everywhere in Germany together on five big stages every year.
The music was great , the location fantastic, the organisation splendid, the drinks were cool and the weather could not have been better. A big big thank you from us in Celtic Chakra (and I am sure that most of the other musicians feel the same) to Frank and Paul and their entire team for a weekend to remember.
Looking forward to the Green Farm Festival 2009.

Vergesst alles, was Ihr bisher über Festivals gehört habt.
Macht weiter so. See you at the Bulmers Corner in 2009 latest !!! Carolina

Much thanks to the valiant helpers who made The DIF-Stand and Greenfarm Promo 2008 such a success last weekend. You know who you are. Frank

I know many of you would love to help promote/advertise the festival. Well you can. We have hundreds of leaflets and beermats (beautifully produced) which you could just leave behind the windscreen wipers of all the cars in your neighbourhood. Just drop down to the DIF-Stand at the Stadtgründungsfest on 13./14/.14 June 2008 and collect everything you need there. The stand will be positioned in Marienhof right next to the U-Bahn exit/entrance there. Talk to whoever is manning the stand. They will be civil and friendly towards you.
Thanks a million.
Frank

I'm not so sure there. Jack might be colour blind. I had a dog like that once. Brilliant where visualising the macrocosm was concerned but a dead loss where the microcosm was concerned. We took him to a dog doctor who diagnosed ameoscopopathy and we sent him to the Isle of Man for treatment. When he came home to us he was able to smoke a pipe and build webpages. He later took to playing the comb and joing a Céilà Band in Kilkenny West. When Pat Kilduff left the band, the dog left in sympathy and ran away from home. I read in the Melody Maker years later that he had had something to do with Foster & Allen and influenced the Bothy Band at their aesthoautoganomic birth. He#d be a great dog to have at a festival on an organic farm I'd say.
What do others out there think?

Looks like Jack's problem could be easily solved by making the colour of the page backgrounds a lighter green. Thanks for drawing our attention to it, Jack - we'll see about fixing it!

Well Jack, My problem appears to be much worse. I cannot read at all. I can barely manage to write, (went to school for three years and then gave it upas a bad job).
My wife thinks the site is "cool" and has read mayn of the more interesting parts out to me. We have had many hours of ferocious laughter at erudite comments on the site and would nearly go so far as to say that the site provides better entertainment than Mre Marion Basler on a bad night. Then agian, it would be a fierce sad world if everybody liked the site. Maybe we can meet up at the festival if you can see me and we could have a long chat about websites and their detrimental effects on modern folk music. My hearing is OK.

This has to be one of the worst designed websites I have seen in a long time. Who designed such an unuseable website ? I myself am 1/2 blind and my screen reader can not read this. The webpages is not very accessible for people like me. :(

I remember Brian too. I saw him collecting the old age pension in Galway some years ago. He had his guitar with him and told me that he was doing a lot of "alley music". I'm really looking forward to seeing him on stage in Germany again and hope that he remembers to pay back the DM32,- I lent him all those years ago. He is nice when he has money. Hildegaard

I have heard a rumour that Brian Flynn will be appearing at the festival this year....is this true ?????????? I remember him from years ago and he was not only a brilliant musician and a great stage presence but a really cool looking guy. I can hardly wait to see him in action. RENATE, ERDING

Just checked out the plan for Greenfarm 2008 .Looks great, great bands, if it is as good as last year ti will be a fantastic weekend

Mike and Conor, agreed that of course you can't compare apples and hops, but Bulmers certainly took the festival by storm and goes down like mother's milk. Just the thing you need after a strenous day of hurling in temperatures of 30 degrees! So... looks like people enjoyed themselves then?!(Posted on 2007-07-05 12:50:00 by )

Hi Conor, I agree with your "No Way " comment as Guinness, just like Beamish which was enjoyed at the GREEN FARM are stouts and BULMERS is a Premium Cider. I think the comment that Alison made below was suggesting the huge potential for BULMERS in Germany. Anyway back to the GREEN FARM, big thanks to all involved in turning this event into one of the most friendly, peaceful and easy going festival that I have attended in years! The atmo was great and it was really fun to be there.(Posted on 2007-06-30 09:17:00 by )

Great weekend. I´m looking forward to another three days in tune...ehm june. Bulmers, the new Guinness???? No way!!! :-P Hope I can come to next years sunday. I missed out on the hurling. :-( If you keep it up tollwood will look like a "kindergeburtstag". How about Podge and Rodge as special guest next time? Seriously though! Andrea Corr wouldn´t be bad either. Conor(Posted on 2007-06-29 17:23:00 by )

Green Farm Festival veranstalten ! See you all there...(Posted on 2007-06-27 08:28:00 by )

Best weekend ever!!!! Never been to a place with such many gifted musicians around.....even at the "bonfire" after a few rounds of beer and cider^^ I haven't met a single person who was there and didn't enjoy it! A big THANKS to all the hosts who supplied us with everything we needed!! and all the organizers (D.I.F. espacially) for making such a great event happen! Greenfarm has to become an anual institution!!!! Ireland, Irish People and Irish Music made themselves some more friends in this world!(Posted on 2007-06-25 19:24:00 by )

Helen, is sliother slapping anything like slithering and slipping around, and did it have anything to do with the rain and mud, or was it more the cider and beer?!(Posted on 2007-06-25 19:09:00 by )

Day is coming up soon!!!(Posted on 2007-06-25 11:57:00 by )

A fantastic event. It was lovely see young & old having a great time - whether foot-tapping or sliother slapping. It really makes all the work worthwhile. How about a greenfarm hurling championship next year?(Posted on 2007-06-25 09:58:00 by )

Thanks for creating a very special festival where people and music could meet and mix in that beautiful surrounding of lake and fields with cherry trees looking over the old farm buildings to lead us towards great food and drink for body and soul.... 2007 brings me from Ireland to Australia, Denmark, UK and Israel, I doubt if I'll come across a festival to better this one...congratulations to everyone involved in making it possible...and by the way I'm available for any hurling and football matches coming up... as a super sub in the last minute!(Posted on 2007-06-23 15:13:00 by )

Dear All....a pleasure being there Still a little sore from the hurling but it's a happy pain...to well remember a great festival that embraced all the aspects of Irish culture....as Brecht would almost say, they who make the fair use of it have the fair right to it, regardless of nationality. I've been to festivals and I've been to festivals- but this one easily ranks as one of the best I've ever attended. There was something for everyone; kids, teenagers, adults and a bevy of well behaved dogs! The music, gastronomy and organisation was so effortless and natural that I am still amazed. I can't honestly pick out any one event for special praise since all of them had their own inimitable moments of sheer glory. It was peaceful, fun, relaxing and sad to have to leave on Sunday evening. I'll be around for the next one - even if it's inTimbuktu. Thanks for making my weekend!(Posted on 2007-06-21 22:00:00 by )

Fantastic weekend, well done to all the people who worked like mad before, during and afterwards to make it a huge success! The music was terrific (and such a LOT of it...;-), you would have needed 10 stomachs to eat all the different kinds of food there, and Bulmer's is the new Guinness (oops, who said that?) Highlight: watching the Sands Family playing hurling and football and Tommy scoring a goal! It was a brilliant festival, big HOORAY to the organisers and pat yourselves on the back!(Posted on 2007-06-21 13:08:00 by )
